Paper
Tiger
Paper Tiger formed in Adelaide in July 2003. They
played indie pop with instrument swapping aplenty – viola,
glockenspiel, melodica, piano accordian, boy/girl melodies and a
Norwegian accent. They disbanded in April 2005, but not before releasing
their While You Are Gone EP, touring to Melbourne and playing with
some great bands, including some of their favourites - The Lucksmiths,
Art of Fighting, Architecture in Helsinki, The Guild League, Frente,
Wolf and Cub, New Buffalo, Anthony Atkinson, The Zebras, Straight
to Video and The Silvermine Tapes.

The
Silvermine Tapes
The Silvermine Tapes
formed as a recording outfit in Adelaide in 1996. Early experiments
were recorded on eight-track tape at an actual disused Silvermine,
now home to an artists’ studio, exhibition space and recording
studio. It was here that the band formed the blueprint of their
sound: a foundation of bass, drums and guitar garnished with exotica
and a collection of non-rock instrumentation, always proceeding
from the premise that improvisation and experimentation are crucial
if music is to breathe.
Although the band never really imagined performing live, they
could not resist an invitation to play with Will Oldham and the
Tren Brothers. Thus it was that in 1998 the live Silvermine Tapes
entity was born, and they’ve gone on to play shows with
the likes of Smog, Richard Buckner, Pete Jeffries, Machine Translations,
Disaster Plan, This is Your Captain Speaking and Adam Said Galore.
